OUR MONTHLY CLUB REVIEW

APRIL 1ST -
Pure is a fairly new club night taking place in the Pleasure Rooms opposite Cream, on the first Saturday of every month. With such competition the organizers have aimed for a much more welcoming, friendly atmosphere than their larger businesslike neighbours, and I'm pleased to report that they have got it just right! With a consistently high standard of guest DJ’s and the superb resident DJ and founder, John Harris, playing a blinding set upstairs to finish the night off, this looks like being one of the best all-nighter’s on offer in Liverpool at the moment. PURE is certainly a worthwhile alternative to the consistent yet slightly impersonal Cream or the rough and ready hard house haven 051.
If you're a bit of a lightweight and the idea of dancing till 6 am puts you off then have no fear because the 3 floor layout of the Pleasure Rooms means that if you start fading fast and want a seat or a drink then there is always the basement bar with resident DJ Nikolai to provide something a little different. Now I've got to be honest, even a professional reviewer like me can get carried away and I'm afraid I spent very little time away from the main dance floor. However I am assured this spacious bar area had a much mellower sound with the emphasis on being able to chill out with your friends rather than dance till you drop.
Nigel Dawson, from Renaissance, was this months guest DJ and set a high standard for John Harris to try to follow, which he managed to do and more. By the time he got playing, the hard-core clubbers from cream who had arrived, wanting more, weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was electric and before we all knew it it was 6 am. The only complaints I heard all night were that it finished too early!
Overall - This is a great up and coming club night and seems to be gaining momentum all the time, so my advise is get yourself in on it early because it will give you some great stories to tell WHEN it makes it big!
